The “CreatureVoice” exhibition is a captivating environmental art event held at the Library at the Dock, organised by Creative Asia Foundation, and supported by Melbourne City Council., Le Grange Gallery, MAAC. This exhibition aims to showcase the voices of living beings through art and calls upon the public to strengthen their efforts in environmental protection.
Five artists are participating in the exhibition, presenting two main thematic stories along with four sub-stories that cover various aspects of humanity, animals, the environment, survival, and death, as well as the intricate relationships among them.
Featured Themes
Nature's Memory:This thematic story focuses on the impact of human activity on the environment and our interactions with the natural world. Through photographic works, it showcases human development, pollution, and environmental destruction, silently recorded throughout time. It prompts us to reflect on how we can coexist harmoniously with nature. This collection encourages viewers to reconsider our lifestyles and responsibilities towards the environment.
Time:Focusing on past, present, and future memories of nature, this theme emphasizes the threats posed by environmental destruction and human activity to life, highlighting the importance of cherishing and protecting every life.
Survival and Competition:This section depicts the competition among living beings for survival, showcasing the harshness and wonder of natural selection.
The Call of Life:This thematic story centers on the sounds in the animal world, presenting various forms and calls of animals in the face of habitat destruction and annihilation. Through depictions of animals fleeing, roaring, pleading, and calling, the artists vividly showcase the diversity of the animal kingdom. This collection raises awareness of animal rights and ecological balance.
Regeneration and Hope:This section illustrates stories of resilience, showing that life can still recover and thrive even amidst environmental degradation, inspiring people to continue protecting the environment.
Symbiotic Relationships:This theme features vibrant and intricate compositions that resonate with the turmoil and uncertainty experienced globally during the pandemic. The tangled lines and broken forms may reflect the chaos of information dissemination and the breakdown of social order. The isolation and fragmentation caused by the pandemic are powerfully expressed in this work, while also evoking a longing for reconnection and a return to normalcy.
Contradiction and Fusion:This mixed form may symbolize the tension and intertwining between technology and nature, progress and tradition in modern society. This artwork explores the role and identity of individuals amidst societal changes and the challenges of maintaining individuality and coherence in the face of rapid transformation.
